Why We Curate + Imbibe.

After building our online business, we realized we didn’t do much of it behind a desk. As entrepreneurs, we didn’t have the traditional office, work hours or anyone to be accountable to. We also didn’t want to be the typical boss, even for ourselves. We wanted to make sure our staff (when we have one) know that wherever their creative side can run wild, that’s where they need to be. 

We work best over a bar and with a cold glass of lemon ginger hef. We also work best when we are interacting with other people that have nothing to do with our work. We know what you’re thinking, it’s just an excuse to socialize and drink. Well, sort of but our creative juices flow when we have conversations that we WANT to have. So we decided why not make this a weekly event. So pull up a chair each week while we inspire, relate and curate while you have a glass of your favorite beer, drink or wine.

Work Smarter in 2018, not harder

1. Time Chunk

Make every minute count. All the crazy successful people you follow and love have the same 24 hours you do each day. How you use those hours each day can make a major impact towards your success. If you have a full-time job, set aside time before or after your job to work on your side hustle - and make it sacred. If you are in your full-time job, find ways to be more efficient with little pockets of extra time you may have between your meetings and projects. We're not saying to get crazy and skip your lunch - just be more focused on how you spend your time throughout your day. 

Here’s an example of each of our co-creators days:

6:30PM - 8:30PM - Family time, kids to bed
8:30PM - 10:30PM - catch a second wind, work on side hustles

4:00AM - 5:30AM - Shoot + Design
5:30AM - 6:30AM - Workout
6:30AM - 7:30AM - Get ready, drop off kiddos to school + daycare
7:45AM - 3:15PM - Work day job
3:30PM - 5:00PM - Work side hustle, blog, social media, emails, + networking
5:00PM - 8:00PM - Pick up kids, eat dinner, family time, + bed time
8:00PM - 9:00PM - Emails + review next day's schedule
9:00PM - 10:00PM - Time with the hubby
10:00PM - Catch all the zzz's

2. Know Your Strengths

If it’s not your forte, D-E-L-E-G-A-T-E. Utilize your friends and family if you don't know a professional or can’t afford to pay anyone. Trading services is a favorite too. - i.e. photography sessions for accounting help, social media advice for SEO advice. Take advantage of your circle until you are up and running to the point at which you can afford to hire employees. 

3. Prioritize your shit!

Don't try to conquer the world in one day. Rome wasn't built in a day for a reason - the same reason you won't finish everything on your list in one day. When you keep looking at your 'master list' of things to do, chances are you end up overwhelmed without knowing where to start, lose focus, and find something to work on that really didn't need to be done that day anyway. Instead, choose your three HAVE TOs for the day and DO THEM!! Because of your intention and limiting your focus to just your three must do tasks, you'll likely finish them more quickly and with better quality than before, AND have time left over. Then you can decide to move on to another project on your list, or spend the time for yourself and regroup. The rest of your list will go by in a breeze when you prioritize your projects and tasks, tackle your set of must do’s each day, and be more productive and less stressed than ever. 

4. Have a plan - and stick to it!

Planning is the the only way you will achieve your goals and move forward successfully in 2018. If you fly by the seat of your pants with everything, you’ll find yourself and your work/side hustle in constant chaos. Accept that you create the chaos around you - and while Kristen lives for chaos, it works against you in the end when you let your life fill up with it. Find ways to plan, structure, organize and prepare instead of rushing through and half-assing everything.  You'll find more joy in your work and more success in your projects by sticking to a plan - even a tentative one is better than none at all. 

5. An emergency in someone else's life doesn't constitute an emergency in your life.

What may seem urgent, may not actually be urgent. While we wholeheartedly support and want to be there for our friends all the time, we also know we have to get shit done, and sometimes that means needing to wait to answer a text, call, or email. Evaluate what is urgent and what you need to get done. Go with your gut. Don't let your life and hustle suffer because you're trying to be everything to everyone. It's hard - and we struggle with this too - but we're so much happier and better able to help after we've got everything else off our plates first.
